Semi-finished product

A semi-finished product is an item that is not fully finished, but is ready to be used in production. This means the product has gone through a certain stage of processing, but it has not yet become the final product. For example, dumplings, dough for bread, or frozen fried items are examples of semi-finished products. These items are later finished at the final stage and served to the customer.

To create a semi-finished product, go to Menu → Semi-finished product and click the Create button.

On the page that opens, you need to fill in the information to create the semi-finished product.

  • Name – Enter the name of the semi-finished product.
  • Accounting category – If you have created an accounting category, you can select it here.
  • Category – If you have created a category, you can select it here (for example, the category "Batch preparations").

Total output – Enter the final quantity or number of portions that the semi-finished product will produce (pcs, kg, l).
If you know which recipes (tech cards) the semi-finished product will be used in, choose the unit of measurement accordingly. For example, if you know how many portions it will make, use "pieces"; if you know how many kilograms it will make, use "kilograms," or use another suitable unit. For instance, if you enter 1 kg, you need to accurately list the ingredients required to prepare 1 kg of pizza dough and the exact amount of each ingredient.

  • Description – Here you can note the preparation method for your own reference, if you'd like.
  • Removal method – There are 2 types of removal methods:
  1. Remove from ingredients
  2. Remove from finished product

Remove from ingredients – When selected, as sales happen, the listed ingredients will start to be reduced from the warehouse.
Remove from finished product – When selected, as sales happen, stock will not be reduced from the listed ingredients, but instead the semi-finished product itself (created earlier) will be reduced from the warehouse.
You can add ingredients to the recipe one by one or in bulk.

  • Low stock – Enter the product quantity here. If the stock quantity decreases and you use the "Low stock" filter in the Inventory section, that product will appear in the filtered search results.
  • Notification – If you turn on this option, and "Minimum stock notification" is also enabled in the Manager app, you will automatically receive a notification on your phone when the product's stock runs low.
  • Label – By assigning a label created in the Label Manager section, you can group this product. This will later help you easily find products with that label when applying a filter.
  • Click the Add button to add new fields and enter ingredients one by one.
  • You can also use the Bulk selection tool to select ingredients in bulk.In the Total section, you can see the cost price of this semi-finished product.
💡 During bulk selection, you can also create a new ingredient that doesn't exist in the system yet and add it to the recipe.

After entering the information, click the Save button.

You can use the filters here to search for your semi-finished products.

When you click on a semi-finished product, you will see the quantity calculated for 1 unit (piece, kg, g, l, m). For example, even if you entered the recipe for 5 kg of pizza dough when creating the semi-finished product, in this section you will see the recipe recalculated by the system for 1 kg of pizza dough.

When you click the In use button, you can see which recipes (tech cards) use this semi-finished product, and in what quantity.
