Reserving an IP Address
You can follow the steps below to access the router's control panel:
- To find the IP address: Follow the steps below to find the router's IP address:
- Press Win + R and type cmd in the window that opens. This will open the command prompt.
- In the command prompt, type the command ipconfig and press Enter. You will see the router's IP address next to "Default Gateway."
- Open a browser: Open any browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.).
- Enter the router's IP address: Type your router's IP address into the browser's address bar. (For example, 192.168.5.1)
- Username: admin
- Password: admin, or it can be left blank.
- If this information doesn't work, you can contact your internet provider to get the correct login details. Alternatively, you can check the default password shown on the bottom of the router or in the instruction manual.
In the window that opens, go to DHCP → Address Reservation. Here, click the Add New button to add a new IP address. Enter the IP and MAC addresses of the device you want to reserve in the corresponding fields:
- IP Address: Enter the IP address of the device you want to reserve in this field.
- MAC Address: Enter the device's MAC address in the corresponding field.
After entering both pieces of information correctly, select Enable in the Status section and click the Save button to save the changes. Once you complete these steps, the IP address will be reserved for the device.
💡Please note that on some routers, the MAC address is written with a "-" (dash) symbol, while on others it is written with a ":" (colon) symbol. For this reason, it is important to carefully follow the format required by the router when entering the MAC address. Since each router may accept a different format, entering the information correctly will ensure the device works without any problems.
