# Clopos Pay

# Clopos PAY

Clopos Pay lets your guest pay the bill and leave a tip by scanning a QR code with a phone. The guest completes the payment on their own phone. They do not have to wait for a card terminal, they do not need cash change, and they do not need to install an app. When the payment is successful, the receipt is closed automatically in the sales terminal with the Clopos Pay payment type.

## Activating the module

Clopos Pay is activated on the basis of a contract. To start accepting payments by QR code, you must sign a service contract with Clopos. Until the contract takes effect, the Back office → Apps → Clopos Pay section is in view-only mode. The status is shown as Pending and the options in the section stay disabled.

You do not fill in any information yourself. You simply contact Clopos and provide the required details:

* Person type, name and TIN (VÖEN)
* Legal address and business address
* Contact details (e-mail and mobile number)
* Bank details (settlement account, SWIFT, bank TIN, code and correspondent account)

When the paperwork is finished, Clopos activates the module and the section becomes fully available. Joining the module is completely free. You do not need new hardware, a new app or extra training — your current Clopos cash register is enough.

## Setting up the module

After the module is activated, open Back office → Apps → Clopos Pay and set the following options:

* **Status** — this defines the general state of the module. When it is on, the QR code is shown and the customer can open the payment page. When it is off, no QR code is created and no payment is accepted through Clopos Pay.
* **Bill payment** — when it is on, the customer can pay the total amount of the receipt directly through Clopos Pay. When it is off, the bill payment option is not shown on the payment page and only a tip is possible.
* **Tip payment** — when it is on, the customer can add a tip for the employee on top of the receipt amount. When it is off, the tip section is not shown on the payment page at all and only the receipt amount is paid.
* **Payment method** — here you choose the payment method that Clopos Pay payments will be recorded under. When you create this payment method, make sure that it is not splittable. It is easier to follow your reports and manage payments if you create a separate payment method with the name "Clopos Pay".

When both options — Bill payment and Tip payment — are on at the same time, the customer can pay the bill and the tip separately or together.

After you save the settings, refresh the sales terminal.

## Setting up tips

The tip is transferred from the guest's phone directly to the employee's card, so it stays outside your turnover. You do not need a separate terminal for it and it does not create an extra tax load. To let the employee receive tips, their bank card must be added to the system.

For more details about adding the employee's bank card, setting the tip message and other settings, please see the Tips article.

## Ways to show the QR code

After Clopos Pay is switched on, you can show the QR code to the guest in five different ways. The payment page opens in the same way in every case.

* **QR code on the table** — a QR code on a stand placed on the table. The guest scans it with the phone camera and does not need to install an app.
* **QR code on the pre-bill** — the pre-bill is printed as usual and a unique QR code for that order is shown at the bottom. The amount stays in sync with the cash register in real time.
* **QR code in the Waiter app** — the waiter opens the table, taps Payment QR in the order menu and shows the code to the guest.
* **QR code on the kiosk** — the guest completes the order on the kiosk, scans the QR code on the payment screen and pays on their own phone. You do not need to connect a separate POS terminal to the kiosk.
* **QR code on the customer display** — the customer display at the cash register shows the order in real time, offers the tip options and shows the QR code.

The same screen also works for delivery orders: the courier shows the QR code when handing over the package, and the tip goes to the courier's own card.

## How it works for the guest

When the guest scans the QR code, the payment page opens. The page shows the name and address of the venue, the receipt number, the items in the order, the total amount and the name of the employee who owns the receipt.

There are three options on the payment page:

* **Bill only** — only the receipt amount is paid, no tip is added.
* **Tip only** — only the selected tip amount is paid.
* **Pay both** — the receipt amount and the tip are paid together.

The tip can be chosen from the ready percentages **5%, 10% or 15%**, or entered by hand in the Custom field. In this method the list of employees is not shown — the tip always goes to the employee who owns the receipt.

There are two ways to pay the bill: through **Bir Pay**, by going to the Birbank page and entering the card details, or with Google Pay or Apple Pay, depending on the device. If the payment is successful, the receipt is closed in the sales terminal with the Clopos Pay payment type, the table is closed automatically, and the guest is shown who received the bill amount and who received the tip.![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/7/4/0/e/740e20bde3bec000/clopospayscreensen2_rlwemg.png)
